The part that I really respect about this game is that it really challenges your mind in a way that I have not expected from Rockstar. It is a whole new world that opens up and it really gets to be a ton of fun. The REAL game happens when you get off campus. You are a short tough guy that spends his time between going to class, dodging bullies, and hitting on girls. This game will grow on you and gets better and better the more you play it! It isn't your regular mindless game if you aren't mentally sharp, you won't be able to pass it! Rockstar has taken a great concept and made an excellent game. Read full reviewīully - deeper than your typical Rockstar game It takes about one to two weeks to complete unless you want to get 100 percent completion, which consists of walking around collecting rubber bands and cards. Good game and it is VERY fun! I would consider renting it or buying it used rather than new due to it's ease of completion. Even the last mission was easy, and i was not ready for it to be over. You pretty much go from mission to mission with no real effort, unlike Grand Theft Auto where sometimes missions took dozens or more times to complete. Even the bike racing you would expect some difficult but really the re is none. Finally, the stereotypes are utterly hilarious- from of the wall gameplay nerd quotes of "learning to speak Elf" or a mindless bully going around yelling "DESTROY, DESTROY!!!"Ĭons: It is just too easy. You are also free to explore and do other missions like the Grand Theft Auto series. It keeps your interest as well, and it gives you a sense of time progression (from a Halloween Party to a Christmas party, and on to the next season). There is nothing like stuffing someone in a garbage can or a locker, nailing a bully with a sling shot, making out with girls from different social groups, playing dodge ball, or tripping a jock with marbles.

JA: The franchise told us they added to the canon but it’s not a direct sequel. Fox is working on various elements this year with the hashtag “#ReadPlayWatch.” This is just one part of the “Play.” They did announce that they did have another game in the pipeline for PCs and consoles. Michael Cerven: The only thing that is similar is that it is Amanda Ripley. We just know that it’s between Alien and Aliens. From the franchise point of view, it’s not something we can totally answer. JA: It’s not a direct sequel to Alien Isolation. GR: So how does this fit in to the canon? It fits between Alien and Aliens but where does it fall between Alien Isolation and the films? There’s not just one way to beat it and win. We went to a big meeting with Fox and we were all talking about the game and a few people in the room had different playstyles that I thought was great to hear because that means you can make it your own. That was another great part of working on this title. There are a lot of different things you can try out to see what works for you. Another thing is you can send your NPCs to hide if they have a red dot. Messing with the doors can trick and that’s just one thing you have at your disposal. So when you play a level, it’s not going to play the same. We tried to capture different ways of him interacting with the world from the get go. One time he might come down one area and another time he might come down a different area if you replay that same level. We had a few back and forths on if this game was a little too hard but we kept it this way because it is in an unpredictable killing machine so that’s what we tried to focus on was keeping it super difficult and hard to predict. He can be relentless and ruthless in this game and we thought that this was a great mechanic for this game. He learns from what you do and also listens to what you do. GR: Isolation was known for the unpredictable alien. And also giving them little side stories and the VO we wrote also helps.īasically, it was just trying to keep that feeling of the first movie where you get enough of the characters and you feel something for them but then this terrifying monster that’s unpredictable is another thing we focused on. So the screaming from the vents should traumatize you and make you start again and keep them alive. We also worked really hard on getting a sort of empathy towards or feeling for the NPCs so you had a connection with them. We tried to capture all of that stuff to make it tense. You can hear the alien run from one spot to another and you think it’s coming for you. The sound is a huge part where you feel like you’re stuck and in a situation that’s horrible and the sound really drives it home when you’re in the vents. JA: The idea that you’re in a certain place and there aren’t that many opportunities to do anything to stop this monster but you have your ways of messing with him. GR: So how do you keep the fear for mobile? Let’s try and find a way to make it our own and use the Alien brand to the most potential that we could to keep that fear and the feeling of the first movie. Covenant had some similarities to other survival horror mobile games. We thought it would be a good fit so we went for it. Rival made a game for Thief of Thieves with Robert Kirkman and they got awards for that title and a good independent studio that quality over everything else. Fox actually introduced us to work on the title because they had been talking to Rival too. And then Rival also had a similar idea so we put them together. We had the opportunity to pursue an Alien title which is funny because I was watching Alien Covenant and I came up with the basic idea of it. The whole idea of clicking on the different cameras and leading the alien in different places is where that comes from. Josh Austin: I was watching Alien Covenant and was at the part at the end where David is controlling the doors through the cameras and thought it would be a fun experience on the mobile platform. I have to confess that I also got really involved and cried sometimes. I got really pissed off towards the end of Candy Candy, when, for some copyrights reasons, youtube took down all the last episodes, come on, it’s Candy Candy!!!! Recent Examples on the Web Some of Peppas anthropomorphic friends are. A bit nonsense, but realism is not what we are looking for when watching cartoon, agreed? Those ancient Greek roots have given form and personality to many English words. It’s a bit awkward to watch something which takes place in Switzerland but where they speak Greek. I can tell you that I have heard at least 1.000 times the word Grandfather and mountain thanks to Heidi and Roses thanks to Candy Candy.Ĭandy was very useful also to learn some phrases, exclamations, like Oh my God! It’s unbelievable how many Greek words I learnt thanks to my chums Heidi and Candy Candy. Peppa is a loveable, cheeky little piggy who lives with her little brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig. That’s how I came across two of my (and my sister’s) favorite cartoons of my childhood.Įvery night, before going to bed, as a good girl, I would watch one episode, religiously from the beginning, starting from episode 1. Peppa Pig episodic animation, Peppa Pig songs for kids, Peppa Pig toy play and Peppa Pig Stop motion create a world that centres on the everyday experiences of young children. I watched some episodes but I got a little bored so I though giving a try to something more serious. What was my solution for ‘Learning Greek for Beginners?’: Peppa Pig!. Obviously better to learn Greek in Greece, but, if you can’t, internet is the perfect solution. Today I will explain you the next step I took, which is indeed quite fun!Īt some point of my learning process, I thought to exploit the internet, in particular youtube: I thought learning Greek online and for free was not a bad idea! I have already suggested you, according to my experience, to study with a professional teacher, which will give you strong basis for your grammar, and to listen to the radio, to get familiar with the sound. Learning Greek is, in my opinion, quite a difficult process, but the good news is: it is possible! “We have bigger problems to worry about for starters, there’s prostitution, addiction and theft - and that’s just my brother.” “I think it’s a huge waste of taxpayer dollars,” said 44 year-old Molly Mason of Kensington. He’s like every kid from my generation, a total sociopath,” joked Gibson.īut for some Riverwards residents, the project is no laughing matter. “I relate to the show’s bully, Eddie Haskell. “When I first saw the artist’s rendering in The Spirit last month, I thought, ‘why do we need a statue of Mitt Romney?’ but then my flat-mate showed me an old episode of Leave it to Beavis and I was instantly hooked,” said 24-year-old Marc Gibson, part-time medical marijuana tester. Since the project secured $200,000 in government funding last month, popularity of LITB has resurged throughout local neighborhoods, as evidenced by the upcoming “Beaver Burlesque Show” at Kung Fu Necktie, as well as an undisclosed Mexican restaurant’s newly introduced, Beaver-inspired fish taco. “And I’m not talking about free-range chickens and Toyotas, man I’m talking about real-deal, antibiotic-injected poultry and gas-guzzling Chryslers.” “Dig this: There was a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage,” he recalled. Wexler proceeded to expound on her daddy issues for twenty uncomfortable minutes, concluding with, “I might love decorative taxidermy, Dad, but I’m a vegan now and I refuse to go hunting with you.”įor 65 year-old Bridesburg native, Bob Reilly, the statue will evoke memories of better times. “It’s like a tribute to my suburban heritage, but it also reminds myself, and so many of my contemporaries, of why we moved here: To get away from our Republican fathers.” Wexler, who recently relocated to Northern Liberties via Bucks County, explained her emotional connection to the forthcoming art installation. “The Riverwards are the perfect place to erect a real-life river-Ward,” according to 26-year-old barista, Bonnie Wexler, an avid enthusiast of LITB reruns and bad puns. Many local fans of the mid-century series are eager to see its proud patriarch forever enshrined as a massive monument, permanently anchored off the shore of the Delaware River. Ĭity Council has commissioned a Fishtown metal worker to create a 36-foot statue in the likeness of Hugh Beaumont (1909-1982), an actor and ordained minister best known for his portrayal of Ward Cleaver, the stern and morally minded father figure from TV’s “Leave it to Beaver” (LITB). At the upper left corner of this area, the most recent file format to which a scan was saved is displayed. Once pages or prints are scanned, thumbnails of them appear in the large open area that dominates the ePhoto software's interface. If you put multiple sheets in the feed slot, it will pull the whole lot through at once, only scanning the sheet on the bottom. As a manual-feed scanner, the Z300 can't tackle a stack of photos or documents. A sensor within the feed slot detects the sheet, which is then pulled through the scan bar to complete the job. You simply insert a photo or document into the feed slot above the scan bar, aligning the paper's right-hand edge with a hash mark. Now, when you launch the ePhoto software, an LED at the right side of the scan bar will glow blue, and you're ready to scan. Clicking the Finish button will restart your computer, so be sure to close all other windows first. You will be prompted by the software to calibrate the scanner with an included calibration sheet, which is a simple procedure. (Don't worry if you don't have an optical drive you can also download the software from the Plustek site.) Turning the scanner on should complete the installation. You install the scanner's software (Windows or Mac) on your computer from the enclosed disc, plug it in, and connect it to a computer with the included USB cable. Apart from the power switch, there are no controls on the scanner all operations are performed through the software. In back, along with a handle for easy transport, are the power switch, a socket for the power adapter, a slot for a Kensington lock, and a USB port for connecting the Z300 to a computer, its only connectivity choice. A flat strip of plastic covers the scanning mechanism and helps form the feed slot. The Z300 has a unique form factor, looking like a sort of wedge with a pale blue, matte front that angles sharply back and a glossy white base. Read Our Epson Expression 12000XL-PH Review Like the Epsons, the Z300 handled our test prints with aplomb, and they all made it through the feeding and scanning process unscathed, even the signed photo of an astronaut that I was a wee bit concerned about. The Z300 is designed similarly, a big difference being it is limited to manual feeding of each print into the scanner while the FastFoto models can automatically feed a stack of prints. They use a gentle feed mechanism to minimize any possibility of damage to the prints. Epson's FastFoto scanners like the FF-640 and the FF-680W have been a welcome exception-they look and act like document scanners but are primarily built for scanning photo prints. Over the years, we have discouraged readers from using sheet-feed document scanners, as you run the risk that the print will get damaged while it is being fed through the scan mechanism, a particular problem for old or delicate prints. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. ( See how we test.) These services, though, are not nearly as convenient as having a photo scanner on hand for immediate use. For example, ScanMyPhotos scans prints for as little as a penny each (for low-res 150dpi scans 7 cents per 300dpi scan), and for an extra fee can upload the scans the same day the prints are received if they arrive early enough. Photo-scanning services, which can quickly scan prints in quantity, have become a viable and reasonably priced option. Flatbed scanners tend to be slow, though, both in the time spent scanning each photo and in removing the old print from the platen and adding a new one. Traditionally, flatbed scanners-which scan photos or documents set on a glass platen and covered with a lid-have been the preferred choice for photo scanning, because such machines treat the prints gently. The Z300 falls a bit behind its competition in terms of scan quality, but its output is easily good enough for household use, especially if you're simply looking to digitize a bunch of snapshots. That said, it's much faster than flatbed photo scanners like the Canon CanoScan LiDE220. It's also the slowest, because unlike the Editors' Choice Epson FastFoto FF-680W, it lacks an automatic document feeder (ADF), meaning you have to feed each photo or document page by hand. The Plustek ePhoto Z300 ($199) is one of the few sheet-feed scanners built primarily for handling photo prints, and it's easily the least expensive that we have come across.

After launching her own pop-up club series in Hornstull Beach, Söder in January 2010, Konichiwa Bitches goes Tutti Frutti, modeled after Christian Falk's A Love Supreme, Robyn became inspired by DJing, clubbing and people-watching throughout Stockholm. "Tired of the broken heart", Robyn returned to writing about "sad love", a theme that remained prevalent in her work because it was universal, yet continued to give her fresh ideas. An accompanying music video was released on 15 April 2016 that received over 400 million YouTube views in four years.ĭeep into sessions one "dark" week of November 2009 in Stockholm with longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund, Robyn's "stormy" engagement to Swedish MMA fighter and contemporary visual artist Olof Inger was starting to fray. The first major test release by controversial London-based AI algorithm-based A&R start-up Instrumental, its formula in finding Calum and releasing his cover would go on to revolutionize major label signing based on early Internet engagement. Critical reception to it was polarized, with the majority of music journalists comparing it negatively to Robyn's original. Calum's cover was a moderate sleeper hit throughout Europe following substantial success in the UK, where it went viral on streaming services despite little initial radio play. Inspired by the Southern rock ballad cover of it performed (but not released) by band Kings of Leon, a cover by Britain's Got Talent contestant Calum Scott was most prominently released on 15 April 2016. "Dancing On My Own" was covered by numerous artists and bands, with several releases, especially of Robyn's downtempo version. Robyn's midtempo versions were promoted well into the following decade on various media, including most prominently Saturday Night Live, the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert, Mark Ronson 's Love Lockdown: Video Mixtape, 2018 film Teen Spirit, 2019 film Long Shot, 2021 film Swan Song, reality TV show RuPaul's Drag Race (2009–present), teen-drama series Gossip Girl (2007–2012) and comedy-drama series Girls (2012–2017), Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019) and Never Have I Ever (2020–present). The song later earned a nomination for Best Dance Recording at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards and was awarded Best Song at the Grammisgalan in Sweden. "Dancing On My Own" became Robyn's first number one in her native country following its live premiere on Swedish TV show Sommarkrysset and also reached the top ten in Denmark, Norway and the United Kingdom later that month.įrequent collaborator Max Vitali directed its Rosie Perez-inspired music video, first released on, that showed Robyn portraying the protagonist in the song's lyrics in various club and rehearsal settings. Several reassessed its influence as Robyn's signature song, a gay anthem, and "the ultimate sad banger" of the poptimist movement, with Rolling Stone ranking it at number 20 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2021. The song was inspired by situations Robyn observed while on her previous tour then clubbing throughout Stockholm, her favorite "inherently sad gay disco anthems", and the dissolution of her engagement.Ĭritics praised "Dancing On My Own" as another bittersweet anthem for her song canon, with some ranking it as the greatest song of the year and eventually, the decade. It depicts a female protagonist in a crowded club just before last call who is dancing on her own while watching her ex-boyfriend who she sought out dancing with and embracing another woman, pondering confronting him for the last time before her time runs out. The song's stark mid-tempo electropop version from her album was the first version of the single released followed by a layered mid-tempo synth-pop edit designed for radio and a downtempo piano ballad recording for Radio 1's Live Lounge – Volume 5 later that year. "Dancing On My Own" was produced by Patrik Berger, co-produced by Robyn, and mixed by Niklas Flyckt, with Robyn and Patrik sharing writing credits. 1 (2010), the first in her Body Talk series. " Dancing On My Own" is a song by Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn, released on 20 April 2010 as the lead single from her fifth studio album, Body Talk Pt.
